PoE 3.29 Abyss Timeless Jewels Guide

Meet the five Abyss Timeless Jewels in PoE 3.29 and learn how their seeds, leaders, affected passives and Zorath result work.

PoE 3.29 added five Abyssal Historic jewels. They use seeds from 100 to 8,000, but they should not be read as five cosmetic versions of the old Legion jewels.

Festering Vengeance is a Murderous Eye Jewel; Extinguishing Grasp is Searching; Baleful Dominion is Hypnotic; Destructive Aspiration is Ghastly; Reclaimed Malevolence is Assembled. All five carry the Historic limit, so they compete with the older Timeless Jewels rather than stacking alongside one.

The important change: affected passives, not a classic radius

The older Legion jewels advertise a large radius. The 3.29 Abyss jewels instead say that “passives affected” are conquered by the Abyssal. In practice, the socket still matters, but a circle around that socket is no longer a safe mental model.

Path of Building added support for the new jewels in release 2.67.0. Its current data contains separate lookup tables for Tecrod, Ulaman, Kurgal, Amanamu and Zorath. For a player, the practical rule is simple: keep the seed and socket together, and use a current calculator or planner instead of counting nearby nodes by eye.

What the community reverse engineering says

This part is evidence-based community work, not a published Grinding Gear Games formula. A technical study by Parazeya models each Abyss jewel as a seeded walk through connected passives starting at the socket. Its recorded sample matched nearly all marked in-game nodes, with the author also publishing the misses and the control tests.

That distinction matters. The model is far more useful than the old radius assumption, but its own documentation is candid about observation error and edge cases. It is sensible to use the model for discovery and then verify an expensive purchase in the current client or Path of Building.

Reclaimed Malevolence needs more context

Zorath adds an Ascendancy interaction on top of the affected passive region. A complete check therefore needs more than the item text: the socket, class and Ascendancy all belong in the calculation context.

TimelessCalc uses the shortest connected route from the chosen socket to the class start when loading the Zorath path records, and it states that assumption in the form. A real build can take deliberate detours. For that reason, treat the browser result as a fast inspection of the common route and use the allocated tree in Path of Building for the final decision.

How to evaluate one without fooling yourself

  1. Paste the item text instead of transcribing the seed. Similar names are easy to mix up.
  2. Select the exact jewel socket used by the build.
  3. Look at allocated passives first. A strong transformed node outside the route is only useful if its travel cost still makes sense.
  4. For Reclaimed Malevolence, set the class and Ascendancy before reading the result.
  5. Re-check against the current tree after a patch that moves or rewires passives.

Do not price a jewel from the count of changed nodes alone. Value comes from the particular stats, the nodes the build already wants, and the opportunity cost of the Historic slot.
